part of Tyneside Radical Film Festival

January - March 2002, The Side Cinema, Newcastle upon Tyne, UK

The second season of the Tyneside Radical Film Festival presents a series of films and documentaries from around the world illustrating stories of oppression and inspiration. We will be holding five fortnightly screenings that will be introduced by speakers and followed with opportunities for discussion. Our intention is to educate, inform and inspire action.

Wednesday 27th Feb 2002, 5:30pm & 8pm

Squatting is alive and well on Tyneside and across Britain. It is not just a solution to homelessness, but opens up new ways to think about how we live. This evening will show how people taking their housing into their own hands can develop real alternatives to our warped society. Squatters from Newcastle will introduce the showing with slides of their activities from the last year.

- Exodus (Spectacle, 25 mins)
- Christiania You have my Heart (Nils Vest, 62 mins)
