Public Meeting - 22 October 1997

With only one clear days notice given, the above meeting took place.

The latest is our local councillor who is supposed to be representing the views from public meetings produced a document packed with reasons why this development should go ahead! Every meeting I have been to has been overwhelmingly attended by those holding anti development views.

Interestingly, this view is not supported by councillor Jones who, on 22 October produced a document which proved' that there were no objections to outline building permission, given following what is know as the Unitary Development Plan. According to the document produced by councillor Jones, there were no objections in 1993 and consequently the plan was adopted in 1995.

According to the Irlam & Cadishead Residents Association, this was simply not the case. At the public meeting of 9 December 1993, we believe the meeting was overwhelmingly against these plans. We believe this information should have been passed to the Planning Authority.

The 1993 public meeting was notified by W A K Struthers, City Technical Officer, with whom we are continuing our enquiries. As we believe the ward councillor Mr Terry Lewis was present, we intend to involve him. In addition we will be advertising for witnesses at this meeting also. If anyone can help, please let us know. Email address airborne@btinternet.com

So, we are told we are left with no choice - building will go ahead, it is merely a matter of trying to minimise the number of dwellings.

We believe that political and financial motivations are working against democracy.
