success for D'Hoppe camp (Belgium)
The D'Hoppe protest camp in Belgium, despite being evicted back in July has prevented the landfill being expanded. The pressure from the camp forced the government to investigate the landfill, which was found to be too large and was contaminating the environment with chlorides, heavy metals and phenols. The owner has 9 months to clean up the contamination or face legal proceedings. More proof that direct action works.
