Holly Street limes in danger (Hackney, London)

Laing, the construction (destruction) giant, is trying to cut down a dozen mature Lime trees on the Holly Street estate redevelopment. Local residents have so far prevented the destruction but word is Laing may have another go next week. Anyone who can should get along to the building site at the junction of Queensbridge Rd / Middleton Rd on Monday morning and liaise with local residents who live opposite the site. Chances are a tree sit will be necessary to stop the felling which is being carried out under an old planning permission dating back to 1999.
