UK Class War front covers 1984-1987

[use index on left - pics appear in this frame]

some front covers of mid-80s Class War, the London based direct action anarchist publication, which started in 1983 and by 1986 was selling 15,000 copies per issue - the final issue (#73) came out in 1998

the early 1980s was a period of confrontation between sectors of society and the police, whose policy of overly aggressive policing and prejudicial attitudes contributed to the violence which broke out during the miners strike, the Toxteth riots (where CS gas was used for the first time in England), the Bristol and Brixton riots, four Stop the City demos, and the trashing of the Peace Convoy (or the Battle of the Beanfield as it came to be known)
