USA (2003) - There seems to be increasing opposition to the sale of mushroom spores in several countries including Japan, Holland and the USA. On February 18th 2003, the owner of Psilocybe Fanaticus, Robert McPherson, and three others were arrested by US Federal agents. They were all indicted on February 25th on charges of "conspiracy to distribute psilocyn and the manufacture of psilocyn". There is more info at Cannabis Culture and Ask Erowid. |

UK (2005) - The UK Drugs Bill attained Royal Assent on 8th April 2005. One of its main purposes was to criminalise the sale and possession of magic mushrooms. However because of complications re the possession of wild mushrooms, the Home Office did not immediately implement Clause 21 (which reclassifies magic mushrooms as Class A drugs). Unsurprisingly, given the bizarre morality of New Labour culture (where it's considered the highest virtue to illegally invade foreign countries and kill tens of thousands of people on the basis of lies, ignorance and stupidity), an amended version of Clause 21 appeared in August 2005 and this has been used to prevent stores from selling magic mushrooms and grow kits in the UK. NETHERLANDS (2009) - In November 2008 the Dutch Smartshop Association (VLOS) started legal proceedings in order to have the mushroom banning order by the Dutch government declared invalid because of a number of legal shortcomings. VLOS also claimed damages on behalf of its members. VLOS lost the case and appealed. The appeal was lost (April 2009). A further appeal is being considered.. More info at Save Our Shrooms. |
