search engines & directories - international and UK submissions

submitting to directories is more important than submitting to search engines
most search engines prefer to index new pages by following links from sites already indexed
** = very easy to submit to     * = fairly easy to submit to

Adobe Search - add site* - search engine for pdf files (created with Acrobat)
AEIWI - add site** - keywords must be comma separated - fussy about email address

AltaVista (Raging Search) - results from Yahoo - fast and clean - good image search

Beaucoup! - 1000+ list of directories and search facilities (mainly US)
BigFinder - add site** - small search engine - indexes page within 1 hour of URL submission
Biolinks - [add site] - directory of academic commercial & scientific biological links
Brit Index - add site - UK directory - Uk hosted domains only
Brit Quest - [add site**] - English search engine, geographical filter (by county) [n/a Feb 2006]
Business.com - US-based business directory - paid submissions - (its domain name cost $7.5M)
