PRESS RELEASE - 25 July 1999

London J18 Demo - Worthing Film Show Aug 3rd

Six weeks after anti-capitalist protests rocked the City of London, Worthing people will have the chance to see for themselves what really happened.

The promptly released film of the June 18 demonstrations is being screened at the latest free video evening organised by campaigning group worthing.eco-action. Doors open upstairs at Paiges Bar in Marine Parade, Worthing, at 7.30pm on Tuesday August 3 and anyone interested is welcome to attend.

The footage includes scenes of the Critical Mass cycle ride, Reclaim the Streets procession and street party. There are also shocking scenes showing what happened when London's riot police decided to break up the fun.

The June 18 film was put together by alternative video outfit Undercurrents and another of their protest-packed products will also be staged at Paiges. There will also be time to socialise at the popular seafront venue.

The video nights are being held on the first Tuesday of each month and future showings will be on Sept 7 and Oct 5.

worthing.eco-action is an umbrella group uniting Worthing Friends of the Earth, The Pork-Bolter, Worthing Anarchist Teapot, Genetix Alliance, and South Coast Against Roadbuilding.

All these groups can be contacted at PO Box 4144, Worthing, BN14 7NZ.
