Scottish National Party support TP2000

The SNP remains totally opposed to Trident and recently signed the Faslane Declaration to this effect. Trident is not only morally reprehensible and condemned by international law, but has no conceivable military purpose. Its massive expense is utterly unjustifiable and its environmental impace extremely concerning. Until Trident is gone from our lochs, the UK Government is in rather a weak moral position when it comes to criticising the nuclear policy of India or Pakistan.

The SNP will continue to oppose UK governments, of whatever party, who continue to find justifications for the unjustifiable and who look upon Trident as a way of sustaining Britain's pompous and largely imaginary status as a world power.

With best wishes,

Yours sincerely

Alex Salmond, leader of SNP
Member of Parliament for Banff and Buchan Constituency
