I used to be a road protester - Newbury, Pollock Free State, Faslane. I also used to be Heather Ripley who played gemima potts in the film Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. Not many protesters who knew me as "Banner Heather" knew that in 1995, as I never wanted anything to do with the media from 7 years old until I started using it as a way of media tarting for the movement after Newbury, for Pressmennan Woods.

On thursday 3rd Oct I'm doing a BBC thing about how the car affects the environment. They're using the original car from Chitty and want me to talk about my involvement in both the film and the road protests and environmental affects of the car.

I dug out all my old Squalls from 95 and various ancient documents from Newbury I keep in a suitcase but to my dismay my Clairmont road publication has gone. Can anyone point me in the direction of archives on the origins of the road protest movement, Clairmont road and Pollock Free State especially?

I need stuff like facts and figures. Anyone know the exact number of child deaths on roads in the last 35 years? Anyone know the number of child deaths on roads in the last 35 years? I want to get as many hard facts about how the road protest movement is of major importance to the welfare of children's future. Far from realising a childhood dream created by Hollwood the car kills kids. Can anyone who reads this forward it to anyone whu would like to help me research and word this or send me urls with archives?

Heather -

Here's the questions they're going to ask me about cars -

5.   Your view of cars
6.   Your reasons for joining the road protest movement
7.   What you think brought about the road protest phenomenon
8.   What you did on road protests
9.   What you think the whole road expansion has done to the environment we live in
10. Has the promise of freedom and magic embodied by Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and the Edwardian era come true?
